Business Boom, hosted by Business Northumberland, proved to be one of Northumberland's largest business support conferences to date, with 85 businesses in attendance and 100 new businesses now signed up to the programme.



Since the launch of the conference in August, Business Northumberland has seen a 25% increase in the number of businesses signed up to receive business support.

Business Boom, was a two-day interactive conference for Northumberland based businesses to register for the popular Business Northumberland programme, gain business growth knowledge and receive support to help grow their business. The event was held at Linden Hall, Northumberland, on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th September 2017.

The interactive Business Boom conference was presented by the Business Northumberland team which includes a group of experienced and specialist trainers. Throuhout the 2 day conference, the trainers supported small to medium sized businesses through workshops and 1-2-1 sessions related to topics to help them grow their business.The event helped business owners to create and develop a manageable growth plan that they could put into practise following the event to help them grow and achieve their business ambitions.

The conference focused on business growth, looking at different routes on how to market ideas effectively, both online and offline, as well as looking at finance and funding opportunities. During the event, there was also an opportunity for businesses to network with a variety of businesses based across Northumberland.

During Business Boom, delegates were encouraged to engage online via social media platforms and share the unique hashtag, #BNBOOM, By the end of the conference the participants had generated content that had engaged 503,000 people across a variety of social media. This lead to the event trending locally on twitter.

As with the rest of the Business Northumberland programme, all the places on Business Boom were fully funded by Arch and England European Regional Development Fund 2014 – 2020 so there was no charge to businesses.

There was a lot of positive feedback received from the businesses in attendance.
Laura Forsyth, Forsyth VA Services, said: "I absolutely loved Business Boom. I have learned a lot of new skills -the routes to market session was really valuable. I have made new collaborations and networked my heart out." Simon Lowe, Simon Lowe Photography, said: "I really enjoyed Business Boom. There were clear, practical and inspiring sessions from passionate experts and I've come away with loads of ideas for how to make my business grow, plus I've made loads of new connections with others. I'm so pleased I signed up."
Councillor Richard Wearmouth, Chairman of Arch, said: "It's fantastic news that 85 new businesses attended the Business Boom conference with a total of 100 new businesses registered for the Business Northumberland programme. Business Northumberland is dedicated to helping local businesses to gain the skills and knowledge they need to grow and develop. I was proud to be inviolved in the event and enjoyed witnessing the brilliant progress and the beginnings of growth journeys for many businesses."
