Spring has sprung in North East England, the sun is shining and with that in mind we thought we would shine a light on some of the businesses working away in Northumberland to provide online services and support to clients during these unprecedented times. We understand that this is a difficult time for businesses, but together we are stronger. Here are five businesses taking part in the Business Northumberland Programme who are working online to deliver their products:
Scubapsyche and Two Clicks Psychological Services – Dr Laura Walton
“Okay. You may be wondering about how we meet. I’m guessing you are here following a post online and thinking there is no point because my office is probably miles away! Well. It’s not. My office is here. Right in front of you. It’s the screen you are looking at right now.”
From the safety and comfort of your own home, Laura offers support, therapy and understanding through her online support platform Two Clicks Psychological Services. Her passion for diving and knowledge of psychology form Scubapsyche where she can help coach you through the mental challenges and difficulties associated with diving, supporting you in diving into the deep. Being online allows Laura to travel and take her business across the country whilst allowing you to stay at home and still access the support you need:

Build a Bake - Hannah Armstrong
Wait a minute Mr Postman… it’s a delicious delivery from Build a Bake! There’s no denying that one of Hannah’s legendary cakes can brighten up the darkest of days and it’s great to see that her Instagram is buzzing with postal orders. Offering treat boxes delivered to your door, Hannah has seen a spike in orders with customers keen to support local business and have treats safely brought to their home so that they can comply with current social distancing recommendations. We caught up with Hannah and she told us that she made double her usual quantity of treat boxes last week and sold them all as they offer a “little pick me up” whether it’s for you or a loved one. Keep an eye on her social media as she plans to offer home baking tips to help you deliver your own cookery lessons at home with the kids!

Helen Stephens Art and Tania Willis Illustrations – Helen Stephens Art and Tania Willis Illustrations
Based in bari Berwick-upon-Tweed, Helen, Tania and Katie have recently set up their own partnership business (with the help of support through the Bitesize Business in Berwick-upon-Tweed programme) to form ‘The Good Ship Illustration’ which offers online support for budding artists who are looking for advice, flexible support and networking opportunities.
“We’re here to offer no-nonsense advice for illustrators and image-makers navigating a creative career.”
Their first online tweet-along took place last week, via #goodshipchat, with artists from across the world coming together to engage in an online conversation. It was great to see what the power of social media can do, connecting the world and allowing us to chat and be creative without needing to meet face to face.

It’s great to see how diverse, fast acting and resilient our businesses are in these challenging times, offering online services to help keep the county and the world connected and supported. Here at Business Northumberland we’re working hard to bring our face to face training, online. We trialled our first online workshop last week with great success and we’ll be releasing more online training in the coming days. If there’s anything you’d like to see then let us know, and remember we’re strong together.
