New infrastructure programme to unlock investment and drive economic growth

The County Council has launched a major new initiative designed to unlock investment, accelerate development and create high-quality employment opportunities across the county.

The Northumberland Economic Infrastructure Programme (NEIP) Commercial Property Incentive, the first element of a major new initiative designed to unlock investment, accelerate development and create high-quality employment opportunities across the county.

Part of the recently announced Northumberland Growth Fund (NGF), which will provide up to £110 million of investment to support economic growth and job creation, it will focus on unlocking projects to deliver new commercial premises and infrastructure.

The £3million scheme was established in response to growing demand for modern employment space identified through extensive engagement with businesses, investors and financial experts.

Through targeted investment, NEIP aims to accelerate development of commercial development projects that deliver long-term economic benefits and strengthen the county’s position as a competitive location for business investment.

Councillor Glen Sanderson, Leader of Northumberland County Council, said “This represents a significant investment in the future prosperity of our county.

“By supporting the development of new, fit for purpose commercial premises and strategic infrastructure, we are creating the foundations for future business growth, attracting investment and delivering high-quality jobs for residents across Northumberland.

“Businesses consistently tell us that access to high-quality premises and supporting infrastructure is critical for growth. The NEIP has been designed to address these challenges directly by enabling investment in projects that will have a lasting economic impact.
